Jakarta, 12 August 2024 - Mutual funds have become increasingly popular and are now one of the primary investment choices for domestic capital market investors. This is reflected in data from the Indonesia Central Securities Depository (KSEI) as of June 2024, which shows that there are 12.3 million mutual fund investors (approximately 94% of the total number of Indonesia's capital market investors). This figure has increased by more than 115% compared to 2021 and could continue to grow as the investment climate in the country matures. However, based on OJK data (2022), the level of literacy and inclusion in the financial services sector, particularly the capital market, remains very low.

Breaking this down further, the asset under management (AUM) to gross domestic product (GDP) ratio in Indonesia is recorded as one of the lowest at 3.7% (compared with the ASEAN average which can reach double digits). In fact, according to the latest data release from the Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) as of August 2024, there has been a decline in financial inclusion to 75.0% (vs. 2022: 85.1%), although literacy has increased to 65.4% (vs. 2022: 49.7%).

This situation highlights the importance of collaboration between PT Bank BTPN Tbk (BTPN Bank) and investment manager Syailendra Capital to enhance financial literacy and capital market inclusion, particularly in mutual funds. This partnership is marked by the presence of Syailendra Capital as one of the investment managers accessible through the Jenius app from BTPN Bank.

Chief Executive Officer of Syailendra Capital, Fajar R. Hidayat stated, "The increasing number of mutual fund investors demonstrates a positive trend. This should be welcomed by industry players, including through collaboration and creating investment services that are easily accessible, safe, and trustworthy. This is what motivated the partnership between Syailendra Capital and BTPN Bank."

Jenius users can access five flagship mutual fund investment products from Syailendra Capital, namely:
