Mutual Funds are certainly safe and supervised by the government through the Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK), a state institution established under Law No. 21 of 2011 which functions to implement an integrated system of regulation and supervision over all activities in the financial services sector. Mutual Funds are safe when managed by an Investment Manager registered with the OJK, and you can verify the list on the official OJK website. As for pricing and returns, these are transparent as they are not calculated by the Investment Manager alone, but also by the Custodian Bank using a standardised formula that has been predetermined. Therefore, the Investment Manager cannot possibly manipulate the price and returns of a Mutual Fund.
