BTN and Syailendra Capital Partnership

Launches Two Premier Mutual Fund Products

This collaboration is delivered through the BTN Mobile app and direct distribution by BTN professional staff

Jakarta, 26 September 2024 - The stock and bond markets in Indonesia continue to demonstrate positive development and present numerous attractive opportunities for domestic investors. According to data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), the number of investors in Indonesia's capital market reached 13.6 million in August 2024. This reflects growing public interest in investment.

Beyond this achievement, total assets recorded at the Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KSEI) has shown positive growth, increasing by 6% from Rp7.744 trillion in 2023 to Rp8.553 trillion in August 2024. Total assets under management (AUM) for mutual funds also grew by 2.12% through August 2024, reaching Rp810.59 trillion.

Recognising this positive trend, PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) has officially partnered with Syailendra Capital, one of Indonesia's ten largest investment managers by assets under management. This collaboration is marked by the launch of two premier mutual fund products from Syailendra Capital that can be accessed digitally through the BTN Mobile application or offline through BTN professional staff who can provide portfolio advisory services, available across major cities throughout Indonesia.

Muhammad Iqbal, Director of SME and Retail Funding at BTN, stated that BTN welcomes this partnership with Syailendra Capital in bringing mutual fund investment options to its customers. This collaboration is expected to enhance mutual fund services by providing product choices that align with customers' investment characteristics and risk profiles.

"BTN hopes to become one of customers' top choices for mutual fund investment. To this end, we aim for this cooperation to increase overall Mutual Fund AUM by more than 20% by the end of this year compared with the previous year," Iqbal said during a media briefing on the Strategic Partnership between BTN and Syailendra Capital with the theme "Riding Market Momentum Through A Diversified Wealth Portfolio" in Jakarta, Thursday 26 September 2024.

The products covered by this partnership are Syailendra Pendapatan Tetap Premium (SPTP) for customers with a moderate risk profile and Syailendra MSCI Indonesia Value Index Fund (SMSCI) for customers with an aggressive risk profile.

According to Iqbal, to market these two mutual fund products, BTN will leverage the BTN Mobile application which has featured a "Mutual Funds" section for the past two months. Through this feature, customers can obtain up-to-date information on mutual funds, enjoy convenient buying and selling of mutual funds, and monitor their investment portfolio in real time. Additionally, BTN will rely on BTN Prioritas personnel who are certified to sell mutual fund products across 57 priority outlets of the company throughout Indonesia.

Iqbal hopes that the partnership with Syailendra Capital will drive continued growth in BTN customers' mutual fund transactions in 2024. In the first half of 2024, overall mutual fund AUM has already grown by more than 15%, with the number of customers holding mutual fund products increasing by around 10%.

"To date, Syailendra Capital products sold at BTN have generated sales exceeding Rp80 billion. Our expected target with these Syailendra Capital products is to increase overall BTN mutual fund AUM to 20% year-on-year and the number of customers holding mutual fund products to 15% year-on-year," said Iqbal.

Meanwhile, Harnugama, Director of Marketing at Syailendra Capital, added that the increase in total assets in the stock and bond markets is a positive signal showing that more people are interested in and aware of the importance of investing. This opportunity should be seized by financial industry players to provide safe and reliable investment access.

"This is what motivated us to welcome collaboration with one of Indonesia's most well-known banks, BTN. Especially since BTN has just launched the "Mutual Funds" feature in the BTN Mobile app. This was the main reason BTN chose to partner with Syailendra Capital to launch two premier products: Syailendra MSCI Indonesia Value Index Fund (SMSCI) Class A and Syailendra Pendapatan Tetap Premium (SPTP)," he said.

Victor further explained that Syailendra MSCI Indonesia Value Index Fund (SMSCI) Class A is an index mutual fund managed to achieve investment returns similar to the MSCI Indonesia Value index. This product comprises large-cap/blue-chip stocks that are undervalued, offering the potential for optimal performance over the long term. As of 23 September 2024, over the past 3 years, SMSCI has delivered a return of 30.85%, outperforming the composite stock price index which returned 26.58% over the same period.

Meanwhile, Syailendra Pendapatan Tetap Premium (SPTP) is a Fixed Income Fund (RDPT) focused on allocating 80% - 100% of funds to debt securities (government and corporate bonds). As of 23 September, over the past 3 years, SPTP has delivered a return of 18.87%, outperforming the fixed income mutual fund index which returned 10.34% over the same period.

"Public awareness of beginning to invest in the capital market is increasingly being viewed as a way to build long-term wealth. We hope this trend can be sustained, especially with the partnership with BTN which is expected to reach a wider segment of the Indonesian population," Victor concluded.

For information, BTN Prioritas has received prestigious awards this year from international institutions including the Customer Experience Initiative of The Year award at the Asian Banking & Finance Retail Banking Award 2024 held in Singapore in July 2024, and Excellence in Innovation at the Global Banking & Finance Review Awards 2024 held in London, England in August 2024.

Syailendra Capital, as BTN's partner, has also received various awards recognised locally and internationally. Some notable awards obtained include Best Independent Asset Management Company (Indonesia) from SouthEast Asia Business Award 2024 (APAC Insider), Top Digital Innovation and Product Offering and Experience Innovation from The Iconomics in 2024, and Best Investor Education (Indonesia) from Asia Asset Management in 2023.
